指宿 - Ibusuki -

JR最南端の駅「西大山」と終着点「枕崎」を目指して鹿児島からやってくると、まずここで乗り換えです。 指宿は砂蒸し温泉や、大河ドラマの題材になった「鳶姫」に関する観光地でもあるんですが、私は観光を無視して 駅隣のレンタカー屋へ直行でした(汗)
You must transfer at this station when you move to the south on a railroad from Kagoshima Station. There is the sightseeing spot about the person who became the subject of a hot spring and the drama in this town. However, then I did not show interest in these and advanced to the south on a car immediately.
正道を行くならちゃんと鉄道で枕崎へ向かうべきなんですが、残念ながらそこまでスケジュールをあわせる余裕は無く、 指宿～枕崎間はクルマで移動してしまいました。
You should advance from here to the south on a railroad more if you love railroads. I was not earnest and hurried. Therefore I used a car easily.

電化されていないのでとても空が広いホームです。右側に止まっているのが私が乗ってきた快速「なのはなDX」

大きな駅ではないのですが、温泉地にありがちな駅前の風景だと思います。 ちなみに写真の左端、少し屋根の低いところがレンタカーの窓口だったと思うのですが、 駅前の道が夕方にはめっちゃ混むので当時ペーパードライバー同然だった私の腕で戻ってくるのは大変でした。
The structure of the station is ordinary and is scenery like a Japanese typical sightseeing spot.
最北端たる稚内駅との姉妹駅提携を示す碑が設定されていました。 最南端は無人駅ですし、最南端の有人駅は記念碑を置くにはちょっと外れすぎるので指宿駅に代表して置いたのでしょうか。
A monument is installed in this station. This monument means a tie-up with "Wakkanai" in the north most in Japan. This station is a station in the south least. However, this station will represent the station in the south instead most because it is unmanned.
